Quality Childcare
Hopscotch has been providing quality childcare for over 18 years and we understand the importance of our role in each child’s journey with us. Ensuring their learning and development is supported, challenged, and extended is paramount in enabling them to make good progress towards the early learning goals. We know that by both supporting the child and the family throughout their early years journey children will feel safe and secure in their learning both inside and out.
All day nurseries and childcare providers are guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and regulated by Ofsted. Our nursery management and their childcare teams are supported by our Early Years Lead who shares the same vision, passion and commitment for the delivery of outstanding care and education, mirroring the ethos upon which Hopscotch was founded, that only the best is good enough. In turn our team commitment and dedication is to the families that choose Hopscotch for their children.
We have an inclusive approach and our childcare team understand and are sensitive to the individual needs of each child. Throughout the settling in process we will work in partnership with families to develop an understanding of their child and individual care routines, this ensures we provide a smooth transition into the nursery in which they develop positive relationships and feel confident, safe and secure.
Our key person system allows a familiar team member who will be responsible not only for the observations and development of each child but also to follow their care routines. A supporting co key person is named for any period where their key person is off. A key person allows a point of contact and support for parents from the initial settling in right through to the next room move or school transition. On top of the daily handover system, we also have regular parents evenings where you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s care and development.
We offer a rich physical environment which is suited to the age group to include appropriate resources, furniture and equipment. Suitable nappy change and toilet areas are available to help with every stage of toileting and encourage independence as they start they journey on to school!
We believe that providing clear expectations from an early age helps children to understand rules and boundaries. Our staff are trained in behaviour management, as a group of nurseries we use the “attending approach” which allows children to recognise how we would like them to behave by using a positive approach.
