Pre School - 33 months +
Children at this age are developing confidence through their learning and continue to develop social skills and strong relationships with friends.
Our preschool rooms offer stimulating and exciting activities that are freely available for children to explore, stretching their skills with staff enhancements and structured learning. Our preschool team are there to guide them through their ongoing development using guidance from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This supports children and prepares them for the next stage of learning.
All of our preschools have direct access to secure outdoor areas which are equipped with resources to enhance their play and provide opportunities to explore. The children continue to be independent learners wherever possible, and they are encouraged to access their drink, food and toilet facilities.
Within preschool we continue to provide opportunities for your child to learn through what interests them, by creating this environment children get a continuous sense of achievement and develop a passion for learning new and exciting skills as well as preparing them for the important transition into school. Our skilful practitioners continue to build upon children’s learning and are able to adapt and enhance continuous provision to meet the needs of each individual child.
Our preschools have a wide range of open-ended play opportunities which children can freely use both inside and outside, our well-resourced free flow gardens enable play to take part where the child feels most comfortable and on a much larger scale. We will work with you to plan your child’s development so that their individual needs are considered when planning their next steps for learning.
Children within preschool start to become more aware of themselves as an individual and what they can and cannot do they may begin to challenge boundaries set without knowing the effect of their actions. Our staff will support children in their decision-making process and explain what may happen, sometimes encouraging them to take measured risks and evaluate the consequences of their actions. We know how important it is for children to make these decisions.
Children of this age become alert and aware of the world around them and love to share aspects of the wider world, often leading a discussion during group time of how their weekend was or the experience that they enjoyed the most about the day.
Within preschool Nursery Practitioners work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance to ensure children through play are learning and are happy confident learners to enable a smooth transition into school.
Preschool is an important time with such an active brain development stage - children are eager to learn skills that will support them in later life. Preschool children will continue to build on the foundations of learning by developing the skills to ensure their future success. Your child will be aiming towards the early years foundation goals that they will concentrate on and be competent in by the end of year R.
We start this transition with you from the day you submit your school application, and leading up to your child’s last day we are here to ensure that both you and your child are confident and ready for their next step in their early years journey. We will liaise with both you and the child’s new school to ensure that a seamless transition can aid a continuous learning journey.
