A big warm welcome to Holly Smith
our new Early Years and Quality Lead
We sat down with Holly and asked her about her new role and what she loves about working in early years education... What was your previous role before starting at Hopscotch?
Most recently I was a Director and Head of Early Years at a small chain of local day nurseries. I have been in the Early Years sector for over a decade working my way up until I was manager. Prior to that I was a Primary school teacher with a specialism in Early Years Education. What do you love about working in early years education? I love that every day is different, you never know what amazing light bulb moments may occur and there is always something that will happen that makes you laugh until you cry. It's rare to find a job that spreads so much joy, but equally has the opportunities to make a huge difference to children's lives. |
How have you found your induction and training so far?
It's been amazing coming into a company that place's so much importance on helping their new staff to settle in and provide them with the information they need to be successful from day dot. Hopscotch take the time to get to know you as a person and help pave out a route of development and support to allow for you to do what you love. It's great to be part of a wider team where there's so many people you can go to for assistance and know that we're all working towards the same outcome. Do you have any personal aims and objectives for your new role? Since starting, three out of the four nurseries I oversee have received a 'Good' in their Ofsted inspections. I can't wait to continue to develop our other settings, so that they have the same opportunity to shine when their inspection comes around. I'd also love to assist in the growth of the business whilst continuing to upskill the team and keep the passion for Early Years thriving. |
"What attracted me to Hopscotch was the importance they placed on recognising individuals and their drive to support and encourage their own strengths and talents. Whether supporting children to become the best they can be or supporting the team to grow and expand their knowledge and skill sets." "It's a company that genuinely cares abouts its children and its team as if we are all part of a larger family. There is a lot of respect for other peoples views and input." |
