Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is centred on early identification, nurturing relationships, and close collaboration with families. So every child feels supported, secure, and able to take part fully in nursery life.

A personalised approach
Across our nurseries, trained Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) work alongside practitioners to support each child day to day.
We take time to understand every child as an individual. Their needs, their strengths, and what helps them feel confident.
We work closely with you to:
Support settling in and daily routines
Share observations and progress
Provide reports that can support further assessment or diagnosis
Working with specialists
We work in partnership with a range of external professionals to make sure every child receives the right support.
This may include:
- Speech and Language Therapists (SALT)
- Portage services
- Physiotherapists
By sharing expertise and strategies, we create consistent, child-centred plans that support communication, physical development, confidence, and independence.
How we support your child
Support looks different for every child. Often, it’s the small, thoughtful adjustments that make the biggest difference. These approaches vary across each nursery, depending on the needs of the children in that setting.
Calm, low-stimulation spaces
Soft lighting, sensory resources, and tools like fidget toys or ear defenders to help children regulate
Clear visual routines
Helping children understand what’s coming next and feel more in control of their day
Small group support
Practitioner-led activities to model play, communication, turn-taking, and social interaction
Quiet, cosy areas
Safe spaces where children can step away if they feel overwhelmed
Familiar, reassuring resources
Social stories and family books to provide comfort and build confidence
Planned play and interventions
Activities tailored to support each child’s individual development and next steps
