Nurturing pre-writing skills

At Hopscotch Day Nurseries, we are passionate about nurturing and supporting your child's development to allow them to thrive to their fullest potential. We aim to create a strong foundation for their future growth and learning by focusing on creating rich and diverse learning environments.

We focus on the early year's foundation stage (EYFS) framework, as well as placing emphasis on the following:

  1. Cognitive Development: We believe in providing age-appropriate activities and experiences that stimulate cognitive growth. Our settings engage babies and toddlers in stimulating games, sensory play, and exploration to fuel their natural curiosity. Through interactive toys, puzzles, and early learning activities, this helps to promote critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and language development.

  2. Social and Emotional Development: Building positive relationships and developing social skills are vital for children's emotional well-being. Our nurseries offer a safe and inclusive environment where children can interact with their peers and our staff in a safe and respectful space. We foster friendships, empathy, and emotional intelligence through group play, sharing activities, and guided social interactions.

  3. Physical Development: Active play is essential for physical development at each stage of your little one's early years journey. Our settings provide ample gross motor skill development opportunities through age-appropriate play equipment, outdoor play areas, and guided physical activities. From crawling and walking to running and jumping, we encourage your child to explore and develop their motor skills confidently.

  4. Language and Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for young children. Our nurseries incorporate language-rich activities, story time sessions, and interactive conversations to promote language development and signing. Our caring staff engages children in meaningful discussions, encourages vocabulary expansion, and introduces early literacy skills through books, rhymes, and songs.

  5. Independence and Self-Care Skills: Encouraging independence and self-care skills is integral to our early years program. We provide opportunities for toddlers to practice self-feeding, toilet training, dressing, and basic hygiene routines. Our supportive staff guide and encourage children to develop these essential life skills, fostering confidence and a sense of accomplishment.

  6. Creativity and Expressive Arts: Nurturing your child's creativity and self-expression is a priority in all our settings. We provide a range of art materials, music, dance, and imaginative play activities to encourage creativity and self-expression. We foster imagination, self-confidence, and a love for the arts through painting, drawing, music, and dramatic play.

  7. Individualised Attention and Progress Monitoring: We recognize that each child is unique and progresses at their own pace. Our experienced staff closely observes and documents each child's development, allowing us to tailor our activities and interventions to their specific needs. We maintain open communication with parents, providing regular progress updates and discussing strategies to support each child's development goals.

Guided by the Hopscotch ethos and curriculum, each of our settings are given the freedom to adapt, evolve and respond to the needs of the children in their care. This allows them to roll out new ideas and makes our settings unique.

Supporting babies from 3 months up to preschool, we're with you every step of the way to ensure your child thrives in their early years.
